Tips and Tricks
If you get stuck during your research, these tips may help:
1. Talk to a librarian at your local library's genealogy section. 2. Talk to other genealogists. Online forums on Ancestry can be a great way to connect with other researchers. 3. Check the tips on Cyndi's List. 4. Organize your research. Make charts and review your notes. You may find something you overlooked. 5. If you hit a dead end with an ancestor, try alternate spellings of the name. 6. Don't rely just on online resources. You may need to order copies of records in print. 7. Ask family members for help. They may be able to fill in the blanks or spot errors. 8. Read a book like Secrets of Tracing Your Ancestors. 9. Visit your local LDS Family History Center for help.
